Australia Parent’s Visa [Subclass 103]

This visa lets parents live in Australia if their child is an Australian citizen, permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen who is settled in Australia. There can be long waiting times of up to 30 years before this visa is approved.

Eligibility Requirement for Subclass 103

• All prospective visa applicants for parent visa sub classes have to meet the below mentioned criteria:

• The applicant has a child who is an Australian citizen, an Australian permanent resident, or an eligible New Zealand citizen and is ready to sponsor

• The applicant’s child has been living in Australia legally for at least 2 years before the visa application

• The applicant should meet the Balance of family test criteria

• The applicant is prepared to wait in a queue before the visa decision is taken

• The applicant must meet health and character requirements.

• The balance of family test determines the extent of the applicant’s connections in Australia under the two conditions given below

• at least half of your children live permanently in Australia

• more of your children live permanently in Australia than in any other country.

• This is a permanent residence visa which allows the applicant to

• stay in Australia indefinitely

• work and study in Australia

• enroll in Medicare, Australia's scheme for health-related care and expenses

• apply for Australian citizenship (if you are eligible)

• sponsor eligible relatives for permanent residence

• entitled for social security payments after 2 years of stay
